Pregnancy

So You're Pregnant...Congrats!
Pregnancy is a beautiful journey. While I was pregnant I was an information junky...clearly that hasn't left me. I'm fascinated by the growing momma and baby during this whole process and love to gather educational information for everyone who wants it! I think one of the best things you can do for yourself and for you baby (and even for your partner...they should know too!) is educate yourself on anything and everything you can (especially for those first time mommas). You all have so much more opportunity in this day and age than even our mother's had - take advantage of that!

So many women (especially first time mom's) wish they would have known more before they had their baby. They wish they would have known their choices more than anything. Take these months that you have before your baby comes and try to find out everything you can - benefits, risks, options.

First thing's first...Education:
Read books, reputable websites, watch documentaries (some of my very favorites are the Business of Being Born and Pregnant In America), talk to your mom, talk to your grandma, talk with doctors and midwives, and childbirth educators. Find the right care provider; you don't have to go with your main PCP that you've had since you were small - interview a few people and find the one that fits. Ultimately you want to find someone that matches your beliefs.
Your Body
Time to start listening to your body, eating healthy, resting and exercising more, and keep your stress levels in check.

Preparing For Labor and Delivery
What is important to you? Have you imagined your child's entry into this world? What do you believe about birth? Do you want to have your baby in a hospital or at home (which is not as uncommon as some think it is)? Ask yourself some deep questions, address your fears, and find support (support comes in many different forms, be it a group of pregnant women, a website, a book, an online group, a doula, a friend, support is a good thing!).
