Postpartum Psychosis

A very rare and very serious disorder is Postpartum Psychosis. 1 or 2 women out of every 1,000 will experience this.

Symptoms include:
  • Loss of reality
  • Hallucinations
  • Delusions
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Violent/aggressive feelings
  • Hearing voices and/or seeing things
  • Sleeplessness that lasts over 48 hours
  • Inability to eat
  • Inability to care for your baby

Call your doctor immediately if you're experiencing any of the above! Don't downplay your emotions, get help. These feelings aren't normal, no matter what anyone tells you. If you really feel like you're going to lose control, put your child in its crib, and call for help (neighbor, friend, relative, etc.).
